Popular street artist DVate was in Goorambat recently preparing to turn the town’s silos into works of art for the Wall to Wall festival.
With the mercury topping 40°C outside he met with locals and Wall to Wall organisers in the much cooler surrounds of the Railway Hotel, where ideas were bandied around.
‘‘The meeting today was all about engaging the community to find out what they’re thinking, and what they’d like to see,’’ DVate said.
‘‘Obviously we can’t put everything on there, so it’s just about finding out what’s important to people in the area, and finding something that will be relatable for the people here as well as having that wow factor for people coming from out of town.
‘‘It’s a massive honour for me.
‘‘It’s something that I’ve really wanted to get involved in, unfortunately I missed out on the first round as I had a few clashes with other projects, but I’m sure excited to be part of it now.
‘‘Especially in a town like this where it’s really going to bring something to the area and should bring a lot of people through.’’
At this stage the proposed artwork is still to be confirmed, however event organisers said the theme would be Australian fauna.
Painting on the silo is due to start during the Wall to Wall festival, which runs from March 9 to 11.
